Three students were asked their opinion about CLC becoming a four-year college, and two of them had second thoughts about four years.
The students were asked April 8 and April 10 on the Grayslake campus.
Shelby Head said she is against it because of the increased cost t it might entail.
“I don’t want to pay more,” she said. “That’s why I’m here.”
Head’s field of choice doesn’t require a four–year degree, and she added that she would thus not pursue one at CLC.
Daphne Toledo said CLC works better as a two-year school.
“I don’t know if it would be successful,” she said. “The job market’s so competitive.”
Toledo said CLC would struggle to compete against other four-year schools that have been around longer.
Lewis Jones, however, supports the suggested change.
He said it would “pull in a lot more diverse people.”
He added that CLC would be able to offer more programs and draw more people in as a result.
“If CLC were to implement more programs, I feel like it would draw more attention,” he said.
