The “Members Exhibition,” currently on display at the Robert T. Wright Art Gallery at the College of Lake County (CLC), is perhaps one of the most diverse galleries seen at the college each year. This art show displays one piece of work from each of the gallery’s current members.
The exhibit has been on display since January 23, and will continue to remain in the gallery until February 18. Because members are allowed to select the work themselves without the pressure of a jury or a competition, this exhibit truly shows the heart of each of the participants. With no set theme for the show, every piece of art is a delightful surprise, each offering a unique perspective.
Gallery curator Ann Rintz’s favorite part of the exhibition is the way it brings artists together.
“The reception for the ‘Members Exhibition’ is a celebration of all art forms and all things creative,” Rintz said. “If you are looking to show a piece of art in a high-profile, professional gallery, this membership is beneficial.”

Aside from the wonderful visual elements, the show offers the artists valuable opportunities. The exhibition is held every January, meaning members of the gallery are guaranteed to have a yearly spot where their hard work will be highlighted.
The Gallery takes no commission on sales during the show, allowing members to fully profit from their work. Participants also receive a discount on the entry fee for the annual juried Recent Works Art Competition held in the fall.
The “Members Exhibition” is not the only gallery opportunity available at the Robert T. Wright Gallery. Another opportunity specific to CLC art students is coming up in mid-April – the Annual Student Art Competition. This competition is open to all Art and Digital Media and Design students. Rintz encouraged students to consider entering.
“Students are invited to enter classwork from art and digital media courses they’ve taken over the past year,” Rintz said. “Deadlines and entry information will be available soon.”
She also said all funds from membership costs are used for good causes including CLC Permanent Art Collection purchases and Gallery programming.
The Robert T. Wright gallery hours and membership rates can be found on the CLC website.
