Update 5:15 p.m.

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Board of Directors has named Dr. Lori Suddick as their incoming college president. The announcement was released by DMACC in conjunction with Suddick’s resignation email. Suddick is set to assume her new position at DMACC on June 15, two weeks after her resignation from CLC becomes effective.

Original Story

College of Lake County (CLC) President Dr. Lori Suddick announced her resignation at 9:21 a.m. in an email to faculty and staff.

Suddick said her resignation was a “difficult decision” made after “careful reflection,” but did not list any specific details on what prompted her sudden departure from the college.

Suddick went on to express her gratitude toward the faculty and staff at CLC. She also said she was grateful to have the opportunity to work with many “inspiring and talented students” during her tenure and for the support she has received from the community and philanthropic partners.

Suddick reflected on the many achievements CLC has accomplished during her time as president.

“I am proud of the College’s work in strengthening its role as a vital resource for Lake County through the implementation of the 2024 Strategic Plan, the 2020 Master Facilities Plan, and the 2030 Strategic Plan,” Suddick said. “The College’s recent recognitions, including Achieving the Dream’s Leader College of Distinction, Aspen Institute’s Community College Excellence Top 200, and the Association of Community College Trustees Impact and Success award, are notable achievements and evidence of the measurable impact on the students and communities it serves.”

Suddick said she remains dedicated to supporting CLC’s progress and partnerships in the coming months to help ensure a smooth transition.

“Leaving this College, my team, and the community we have built together will not be easy,” Suddick said. “I will always carry the Lancer Spirit with me, and I end my tenure celebrating the strength and promise of this remarkable community. I am confident the team will successfully build on the extraordinary outcomes we created together through a unified student- and community-centered culture.”

Suddick’s resignation will be effective June 1.
