Thursday, the College of Lake County’s women’s basketball team showed dominance in an 82-47 victory over the Prairie State Pioneers. This victory makes nine consecutive wins for the Lancers.

The Lancers’ scoring was led by starting point guard Annamaria Luna with 23 points. Another outstanding performance was by starting forward Nevada Holm who hit six three-pointers to put 18 points on the board. Starting forward Monica Sierzputowski also recorded a double-double for the second game in a row with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Holm commented on her approach to being productive on the court.

“I’m definitely a one play at a time kind of person,” Holm said. “Not dwelling on my mistakes, just focusing on the next play.”

Standing at 23-5 with only two games left in the regular season, Lancers’ Head Coach Tanner Morris is already looking toward the playoffs with confidence.

“I truly think, as you saw Tuesday, when we play our best, I don’t know if anybody can beat us,” Morris said. “We’re going to give ourselves an opportunity to get to the national tournament if we play like that every night.”

The Lancers will travel to McHenry County College next Tuesday to take on the Scots, then return home for their final regular-season game against the Chiefs of Waubonsee Community College.
