The CLC Lancers women’s basketball team earned a dominant playoff victory against South Suburban College, February 25. The 86-60 win sends the Lancers to Rockford for the second round of the regional tournament.
Starting forward Nevada Holm led the Lancers with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Starting forward Monica Sierzputowski recorded her fifth consecutive double-double with 19 points and 22 rebounds. Forward Arianna Myers added 18 points, including five 3-pointers.
The Lancers caught fire from beyond the arc in the first quarter, building a 32-15 lead. Starting guard Olivia Robinson, who hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter, reflected on the early scoring surge.
“As soon as the first one went in, I just kind of felt the flow,” Robinson said. “I knew when everyone else started making threes it was going to be a good night shooting.”

The Lancers maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, applying pressure on both offense and defense. Head coach Tanner Morris praised his team’s focus and intensity.
“Anybody that can go 11-for-17 from three in the first half of a game is probably going to win,” Morris said. “Our girls are pretty locked in right now and focused on what their job is. When we came out tonight, it’s the first time I’ve really seen some fire out of the girls from the start.”
With two wins separating the Lancers from the national tournament, the team’s confidence is high. Holm shared her thoughts on a potential playoff run.
“I think we have a really good chance,” Holm said. “I feel like we have a lot of energy and momentum right now, so I think we’re going to make it all the way.”
