Andrea Gomez was elected student trustee and Gwendolyn Thommes was elected as Student Government Association president in the March elections to determine offices for terms starting in the fall semester.
From March 10 to 12, College of Lake County held elections to fill the positions of Student Trustee and the Student Government Association Executive Board for the upcoming fall semester.
In the three-day period students were allowed to vote, 362 students cast ballots online.
Regan Wegner, a first year applied sciences student at CLC, and Gomez, a political science major, ran for student trustee. Wegner received 36% of the votes while Gomez received 64% of the votes.
Dawson Price, a first-year mechatronics and robotics student at CLC, and Thommes a first-year communication sciences and disorders major, ran for the SGA president. Price received 42% of the votes, while Thommes received 58%.
In other races Kendall Martinson was elected SGA vice president, and Ammad Ahmed was elected treasurer.
Martinson, a first-year secondary education student at CLC, Tiana Aiardo, a first-year business major, and Melissa de Camara, also a student at CLC, contested for the SGA vice president. Martinson secured 42% of the votes, Aiardo received 37%, and de Camara obtained 21%.
Ahmed, Nicholas Cohen, ran for the SGA treasurer. Ahmed received 55% of the votes while Cohen received 45% of the votes.
